"We need a Flower"

We Need a Flower

LIVE PAINTING and WORKSHOP

Curated by Izumi Fujiwara

The performance includes a live painting demonstration by Izumi Fujiwara, followed by a workshop where children can put into practice what they saw during the demonstration.

During the performance, the artist will paint a canvas titled “Ci vuole un fiore” (It Takes a Flower) on a canvas, accompanied by the song of the same name with lyrics by Gianni Rodari, and will interact with the children by involving them in the process of creation.

Through the images evoked by the song, the children will be led into a world of color and transformation, characteristic of the artist’s style.

For example, we’ll start with a mark that, following the children’s instructions, will develop before their eyes, and we’ll see that what at first glance might resemble an object or an animal will quickly and with just a few brushstrokes change its meaning, shape, and color until it takes on a definitive form in harmony with the entire painting.

In addition to being a moment of entertainment/performance, it presents in a simple and direct way the technique that will be used during the workshop in the coming days.

Through the workshop, the children, under the artist’s guidance, will have the opportunity to create their own painting, applying the dynamics of painting in real time.

During the workshop, the children will be encouraged to develop their creativity without stereotypes, so that through this experience, each child can find confidence and awareness in the power and potential of their imagination.

The artist will help the children create their own painting by making marks on the canvas, which each child will develop based on their creativity and emotions. For example, a zigzag line can become the teeth of a crocodile, and a circle can become the body of an eagle.
